To My Father

Welcome to another day of the All You Need Is Love Project by Carmen at ShuGar Love.

This week’s topic is: Let’s dedicate this post to our Fathers. Check out last week’s topic.

Yesterday, my post was on what I thought Dads really love to get on Father’s Day. Today, my post is dedicated to my Father.

As you may know from my post dedicated to my Mother, my Father is a Father to eight children – three boys and five girls (me as the youngest). The picture below is from 2007 (when I was only 19) with all the children in birth order with our parents in the middle. As you can see, I am the tallest girl.

My Father served for his country. He was in the Army for 3 years and National Guards for 7 years. While in the Army, he went to Germany as a cook. While in the National Guards, he went to Honduras as a baker.

My Father also worked hard for his family. My Father loved to cook, so he worked in the food industry to support his family. He worked about 3 years as a cook in a restaurant and 10 years as a cook for the school. Plus other places. My parents also owned a bakery for 4 years. People would say that my Father had the best buns in town. Then they would blush with embarrassment when they realized what they said.

Because of my Father, I got the talent of cooking and baking. It comes to me very easily. I usually don’t precisely measure some of the ingredients. I know the amount I need of an ingredient, so I estimate the amount by eyeballing it.

Below are pictures of my Father and I at my wedding. The first picture is of me kissing my Father on the cheek before my ceremony. The second picture is of my Father walking me down the aisle. The last picture is of my Father giving me away to my husband.

On this Father’s Day, how are you showing appreciation to your Father?
