Tidy Tuesday is a weekly post series on the subject of home. I’ll talk about any remodeling / decorating of my house to tips to help you get your house organized to decorating tips.
Do you have home repairs that seem to be never ending? Do you finish one repair and find another issue that needs to be fixed? Oh the joys of being a home owner.
Well, we have lots of home repairs that need to be done in our house. The issue started when we noticed a big bubble forming in our plaster ceiling in our living room. The insurance company wanted to blame the damage on our pipes (they don’t cover the cost of repairing the pipes), but it was discovered on inspection by a contractor that the damage was coming from our roof.
The vent on the roof wasn’t sealed correctly by the vent (before we moved in), so whenever it would rain or snow would melt, the water would leak into our house. Because of that sealant problem, we have damage in our living room ceiling/wall and basement ceiling/wall. This Spring/Summer, we have had some big rainfalls. There has been water dripping from our ceiling and basement on several occasions.
Below are close ups of several areas where water was coming in by the vent.
After going back and forth with the insurance company (seemed like forever), we finally have the money we need to fix the damages.
Our first step in dealing with the home repairs is fixing the roof.
Below are pictures of fixing the sealant issue by the vent and replacing some shingles.
Now that the roof is fixed, the next step is begin on the repairs of the inside of the house.
Are you doing any home repairs this Summer? Do you have a big list of repairs?
